Love it or hate it this uniquely South African red bush tea is a health powerhouse.

Rich in vitamin C and minerals: manganese, potash, magnesium, iron, and phosphate this alternative to traditional tea offers a caffeine free, low tannin beverage that promotes digestion and assists liver and kidney function.

Traditionally brewed with boiling water (one generous teaspoon per cup) there is so much more to be done. Iced is a must in hot weather.

My favourite method is to take our Rooibos Chai or Vanilla and infuse in milk.

Pour a cup of milk (dairy, coconut, soy or almond) into a saucepan, sprinkle on a generous teaspoon of Rooibos and gently simmer for 5 minutes. Pour through a sieve into your favourite mugs, sit back and let this tasty warming brew relax away the day’s stresses.

But this beautifully infused milk is more than a drink. Think puddings – it makes the tastiest rice pudding, creamy panna cotta, rich chocolate pudding, crème brulee and custard with a twist. And cooled down and iced makes an exceptional milkshake.

If you are looking to reduce your caffeine intake but don’t want to miss out, look to adding Rooibos into your life… you won’t regret it.
